2021 Young African Youth Leaders’ Summit Ends in Accra

Scores of Young African Leaders (YALs) gathered in Ghana’s capital Accra to participate in the three-day summit, held at the Accra International Conference Center (AICC) and organized by the Young Global Leaders Network (YGLN).

The event bringing together young and passionate Africans from the continent was organized under the theme; ‘African Youth Transforming Visions and Ideas in Action’.

The areas of interest discussed during the summit included the impact of climate change in Africa, involving youth in the policy making process, factors influencing agricultural entrepreneurship.

At the event, five young leaders were awarded the African Youth Badges, which celebrated and recognized the young leaders who have shaped Africa in their various disciplines despite the significant impact of COVID-19 on lives and businesses.

Celebrated and honored at the summit included His Excellency Former Minister Filsan Abdullahi, Ministry of Women, Children and Youth, Republic of Ethiopia, Hon. Dr. Kirsty Leigh Coventry, Minister of Youth, Sports, Arts and Entertainment, Republic of Zimbabwe, Mr. Charles Ohane Kwame Frimpong, investor and entrepreneur, Founder of Salt Media GH.

Also, 20 young African entrepreneurs who have challenged the status quo, excelled in their entrepreneurial journey, made a big impact in 2020/2021 and are role models for other young aspiring entrepreneurs in Africa.

There were 20 young African entrepreneurs nominated; Munyaradzi Gwatidzo (Zimbabwe), Anthony Dezamef (Ghana), Bernice Dapaah (Ghana), Charles Lipenga (Malawi), Odunayo Eveniyi (Nigeria), Alain Netef (Cameroon), Jefeboete Achempong (Ghana), Danny Manu (Ghana), Emeka Ajene (Nigeria) and Saran Kaaba Jones (Liberia).

the rest are; Olugabenga Agboola (Nigeria), Charles Ohane Kwame Frimpong (Ghana), Lininoluwa Aboeji (Nigeria), Mark Doumba, (Gabon), Rose Oduro (Ghana), Nana Opoku Agyman-Prempeh (Ghana), Barclay Paul Okari (Kenya), Helen Dausen (Tanzania), Fatomata Ba (Senegal) and Trusherkhetia (Kenya).

Delegates at the summit worked together to draft the Africa Youth Manifesto 2021, a declaration which they believe will be presented to the heads of state of the continent and the African Union.

On the occasion, representatives from the Young African Leaders Summit and the founder of the Young Global Leaders Network, Emmanuel Addo, paid a courtesy call on former President, John Agyakum Kufoor at his residence, where he engaged and advised youth to become missionaries of change. The Young Global Leaders Network includes young social and business entrepreneurs, young politicians, young diplomats, young business leaders, innovators, educators, policy makers, young professionals, future leaders and the brightest young men and women who are changing the world with their talents.
