After lamenting that millions of people in Africa live without hope and are deprived of resources, he said that, according to a recent report by the United Nations Food and Agriculture Fund (FAO), there will be 281 million malnourished people in Africa in 2021. was identified.

Emphasizing on the idea of ​​strengthening the state, Sal said that in order to solve the existing difficulties in the sector, inclusive growth should be achieved following the principles of social justice, so that “every citizen feels that he is a participant”. in national resources

In his speech, the African Union’s representative, made up of 55 countries, also addressed issues such as the proliferation of extremist groups and the environmental threats that result from global warming, intense drought, desertification and natural disasters, among other events.

In a previous report circulated at the regional meeting, the AU Commission’s chairman, Moussa Faki Mahamat, warned that 113 million Africans are in urgent need of humanitarian aid by 2022.

He said this figure includes 48 million refugees, asylum seekers and internally displaced persons.
