African Union to observe the 4th December 2021 Presidential Election in the Republic of The Gambia

It will be recalled that the AU deployed the LTO in the Republic of The Gambia from 20 October, which was joined by the STO on 22 November 2021. They will undergo a three-day briefing and orientation on the political context and state of preparedness. presidential election. AUEOM is overseeing pre-election activities, including the political environment, the electoral legal framework, transparency of the electoral process, the campaign environment, respect for media freedom and popular participation.

On 6 December 2021, AUEOM will release a statement of its preliminary findings and assessment of the election during a press conference in Banjul. A final report will be issued within a month after the official declaration of the election results.
