AFRIMA 2022: Organisers set deadline for entries submission – Premium Times Nigeria

The International Committee of the All African Music Awards (AFRIMA) says that all entries for the 2022 edition must be submitted before the portal closes on August 5, 2022.

AFRIMA was established by the International Committee AFRIMA in collaboration with the African Union (AU) to reward and celebrate musical works, talents and creativity around the African continent while promoting African cultural heritage. It started in 2014.

Nigeria’s Wizkid, Iba One and Fireboy were some of the big winners in the DML 2021 edition.

Hadja Kobele Keita, the AFRIMA juror representing Overseas North America, said in a statement on Monday that the awards platform would not extend the submission date beyond August 5, 2022.

“It is essential that all concerned parties submit their entries on time this year. We are a comprehensive and transparent organization with a straightforward process for the Annual Awards Ceremony. Once the submission of entries is finished, we spend time looking through the material before receiving our final nomination list.

“We also have a specific time allotted for voting. PricewaterhouseCoopers, a firm of international repute, is auditing the entire process. AFRIMA 2022 will be held from November 3 to 6 this year. To achieve this, we are at this point in time. Can’t extend the time limit.”

According to AFRIMA, all potential entries must have been made between August 20, 2021 and August 5, 2022, which is the year of review of all submissions.

This year’s edition retains its existing categories, all of which are carefully curated to celebrate the best talent within the African music scene and communicate Africa’s strengths for global competition.

A pre-screening and primary screening process will be carried out by a world-class 13-member jury, composed of experienced music experts, from 5 to 16 August 2022 across five regions of Africa and the diaspora.

The world media announcement of the list of AFRIMA 2022 nominees will take place on August 17, 2022, officially beginning the voting period for this year’s edition.

Beginning August 24, 2022, the AFRIMA Academy, as well as music fans and followers around the world, will begin participating in the public voting process on AFRIMA’s website.

Nominees will receive votes that can propel them to be winners in various award categories.

The voting process, which kicks off 24 hours before the awards ceremony, will be monitored and audited by PricewaterhouseCoopers, a reputed international auditing firm.

The award ceremony will be held from November 3 to November 6, 2022. It will be a four-day festival of music, glitz and glamour.

The event will begin with a reception, followed by a tour of the AFRIMA Music Village, the host city, the African Music Business Summit, and the special nominee party and conclude with a live awards ceremony broadcast in more than 84 countries around the world.

Artists, artist managers, music producers, recording companies/labels, video directors, disc jockeys and other relevant stakeholders may submit their work or on behalf of their clients through the official AFRIMA website www.afrima.org,
