AU condemns twin bomb blasts in Ugandan capital

Kampala, Nov 16 (Xinhua) – The African Union (AU) on Tuesday condemned the twin bombings in the Ugandan capital Kampala that killed six people, including three suicide bombers.

The continental body said in a tweet that it stands with the people of Ugandans after the terrorist attacks on Tuesday at a police post and on a street alongside government offices.

AU Commission President Moussa Faki Mahamat said in a tweet: “I condemn in the strongest terms. Our deepest condolences to the families of the victims and wish the injured a full recovery.”

Police said 33 other people were injured in the attacks. The attacks, according to police, are the hallmark of the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) affiliated with the Islamic State in central Africa.

The attacks come nearly three weeks after two separate explosions in central Uganda killed two people and injured several others. The ADF was held responsible for these attacks.
