AU launches digital platform to ease implementation of AfCFTA | TheCable

The African Union (AU) has launched a digital platform designed to facilitate the implementation of the African Continental Free Trade Area.AfCFTA,

The digital platform – www.afcfta.app – was recently unveiled at an event organized by AU and AfroChampions.

The theme of the event tagged ‘Boma of Africa’ was; ‘Taking stock of the African century’.

AfCFTA is a free trade area agreement signed by most African countries. It is a flagship project of AU’s Agenda 2063.

The aim of the agreement is to “create a single market for goods and services facilitated by the movement of persons in order to deepen the economic integration of the African continent.”

Commenting on the essence of the digital platform AU, in a statement, Said “The digital platform, called AfCFTA Hub, ties together national, regional and private digital applications to enable SMEs to expand their business and/or export their products to Africa through improved logistics, retail outlets.” To export its products through integration of key networking, fintech, and brand development support.”

Meanwhile, during the event, AU also launched a digital Vaccine Passport platform, which allows citizens of AU to obtain a free digital proof of their vaccination, which can be verified anywhere in the world.
