Chamisa hints at diplomatic offensive to free Sikhala and Sithole

Nelson Chamisa, the leader of the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC), gave a sad account on Thursday, acknowledging his camp’s failure to secure the release of Nyatsime 14 activists, along with his camp’s legislators, Job Sikhala and Godfrey Sithole. , which stated that all legal avenues had been exhausted.

Sikhala and Sithole have spent 105 days in remand prison and Chamisa insists that the CCC will stand firm in its effort to free both.

Presiding over the official launch of her party on Thursday in Harare of the Pre-election Agreement on Electoral Reforms (PREPARE), a document that outlines CCC electoral demands, Chamisa said her party demanded the release of the lawmakers and 14 others. I have left no stone unturned.

“We as a civil movement are taking this issue seriously, we have left no stone unturned,” he said.

“We know what our adversaries are expecting us to do, we generally do not accept invitations from people who do not like us, nor do we accept advice from those across the moral and political spectrum. But we have done everything to ensure that we are able to secure their release within the limits of legitimacy, constitutionality and peace.

“It has been 105 days, Honorable Sikhala and Honorable Sithole are still imprisoned together with Nyatseeme 14. What is clear is an attack on democracy, an attack on the will of the people, but it also undermines the Sovereign Declaration of Zimbabwe. People because Honorable Sikhala and Honorable Sithole were elected by the people of Zimbabwe.”

The CCC leader also raised questions on the legitimacy and behavior of the MPs as per the Constitution.

“They are not honorable by mistake, they are not honored by omission,” he said.

“You do not treat honorable members like ordinary criminals, especially on the basis of an allegation that is politically motivated and motivated.”

He said that Sikhala and Sithole, along with Nyatseeme 14, were the victims of a failed government.

“It is clear that Honorable Sikhala and Honorable Sithole did not commit any crime. Their only crime was to stand against oppression, oppression, corruption, dictatorship, tyranny and misrule.

“It certainly cannot be a crime because they were voted on by the citizens of Zimbabwe on the basis of that platform.”

The opposition party will try other ways to seek justice, including contacting the African Union (AU) and the United Nations (UN).

“I will not go into detail about what we are doing within the country and within the region and certainly on the continent to reach out to the highest offices including the United Nations to ensure that the issues of this pre-trial imprisonment can be dealt with.

“We are very serious, we know that as the next government there will be many challenges, trials and tribulations, our people are being persecuted, supporters are being subjected to persecution, a lot of traps are being set. Well, in our way in Booby Trap, we will oppose and conquer them all,” Chamisa said.
