Ethiopia urges African states to promote continental trade – Prensa Latina
During the African Union Extraordinary Summit on Industrialization and Economic Diversification, Demeke Mekonnen, Deputy Prime Minister of Ethiopia, said that “we must establish trading strategies so as not to depend on imports from other regions.
First, though, we must do an industrial expansion to determine whether Africa can turn its vast natural resources into quality goods, Mekonnen said.
The Deputy Prime Minister said that it is very important to allocate the necessary capital to drive technological development across the continent and to transform national economies with concrete actions.
Mekonen also explained some of the details of the economic reforms implemented since Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed came to power in 2018.
