From Rep. of Turkey Ministry of Foreign Affairs

PRESS RELEASE OF THE IRAQ CRISIS DESK, 7 JULY 2014

The acts of violence affecting the large parts of Iraq still continue. In this regard, our previous warnings concerning the situation in the provinces of Mosul, Kirkuk, Saladin, Anbar, Diyala, Baghdad, Basra, Babel, Najaf, Kerbela, Wasit, Maysan, Qadisiyyah, Musenna and Dhi Qar are still valid. We strongly recommend our citizens in the abovementioned provinces to leave these regions as soon as possible and urge all our citizens to abstain from visiting these regions for their own security.

On the other hand, we deem necessary to remind our citizens who travel to Iraq with a tourist visa and work without a working visa; who exceed the period of tourist visa by staying more than one month in Iraq, and who enter the other provinces without a visa by obtaining only an entrance seal from the Iraqi Kurdish Region; could be obliged to pay fine between 95 and 420 USD and even could be subject to a jail sentence for 3 months.

Necessary efforts to ensure the safe and sound return of the staff of the Turkish Consulate in Mosul to Turkey are being conducted in a sensitive manner.

Our relevant units have been rapidly answering the demands of information and support submitted to the Crisis Center based on the currently available information despite the ongoing extraordinary circumstances in Iraq.
