Humanitarian Assistance to Afghanistan – Ministry of Foreign Affairs

First consignment of 1800 metric tonnes of wheat as humanitarian aid from Pakistan to Afghanistan has crossed the Torkham border Today,

The consignment is part of a humanitarian package of Rs. $5 billion aid for Afghanistan announced by Prime Minister Imran Khan. The package includes 50,000 metric tonnes of wheat, winter shelter and emergency medical supplies.

The first consignment was handed over to the Afghan side by Mr. Shahzad Arbaab, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister.

Pakistan believes that the current humanitarian and economic situation in Afghanistan requires immediate attention of the international community. It is important that the world community intensify its efforts to reach out to the Afghan people on an urgent basis to help tackle the humanitarian crisis and stabilize the economic situation.

As part of our commitment to a peaceful, stable and prosperous Afghanistan, Pakistan will continue its efforts to support the fraternal Afghan people.
