The tripartite mechanism (African Union, the Intergovernmental Authority on Development and the United Nations) called on Generals Abdel Fattah al-Burhan and Mohamed Hamdan Dagallo “Hemedti” to agree to a further extension of the 72-hour ceasefire and ensure its full implementation. say for. As the Sudanese people urgently need a humanitarian pause, the Tripartite Mechanism urges the parties to the conflict to respect the ceasefire, protect civilians and avoid attacks on civilian populated areas, schools and health facilities. All sides should remind their fighters of their obligations under international law.
This ceasefire will also pave the way for talks towards establishing a permanent cessation of hostilities between the two sides.
