The federal government has described the opposition as “shameless embracers” attacking President Muhammadu Buhari over his recent remarks on the 2023 presidential elections.
In a statement issued on Sunday, the Minister of Information and Culture said, Lai MohammedThe President’s analysis of the reasons for the defeat of the opposition in the 2023 elections is irrefutable.
The statement was made available to journalists in Abuja by the Special Assistant to the President (Media), Office of the Minister, Segun Adeyemi.
The minister reiterated the President’s position that the opposition lost the elections in the 2023 presidential election because of its overconfidence, complacency and poor tactical moves.
“The opposition’s overconfidence in the election stems from a storm of social media propaganda as well as faulty and bought opinion polls.
He added, “These were apparently designed to uncritically report to their overseas supporters and a section of the international media that they were going home to victory when they were actually going to defeat.” They said.
Mr Mohammed advised the opposition to stop their endless griping over the elections which they lost, adding the President deserves praise for conducting the best election in the history of Nigeria.
“President Muhammadu Buhari lived up to his billing by conducting a free, fair and credible election, and his legacy is assured.
He said, “The president would rather lose his state and many of his party’s bastions than tamper with the integrity of the election, and that is why he provided a level-playing field for all parties.”
According to Mr Mohamed, APC presidential candidate Bola Tinubu won the presidential election fair and square, garnering the majority of votes.
They said Mr Tinubu exceeded the constitutionally prescribed 25 per cent of votes cast in each of at least two-thirds of all states in the Union and the Federal Capital Territory.
“According to the results, none of the opposition parties fulfilled any of the conditions set for winning the presidential election.

He said, ‘Despite the pre-poll grandeur, they didn’t even come close.
“They (opposition) keep resorting to some international observers to justify their bogus claims of rigging in elections,” he said.
Mr. Mohamed contradicted the conclusion of American diplomat, Johnny Carson, that the APC candidate “undoubtedly won the election”.
Mr Carson, according to the minister, co-led the National Democratic Institute (NDI) and the International Republican Institute (IRI) international election observation mission in Nigeria.
“They also forgot that the African Union election observation mission in Nigeria said the atmosphere was generally calm and peaceful in 95 percent of polling units.
“It is on the strength of these reports that many countries, including the US and the UK, wasted no time in congratulating the victorious APC presidential candidate,” he said.
The minister slammed the opposition for constantly trying to mislead the world by grasping at the weak straw that the results were not immediately uploaded on the IReV portal.
He insisted that the portal had no role in collating election results.
Opposition alleges failed to upload result promptly
The credibility of the presidential election influencing election on IReV is a hoax.
“It is an act of blackmail and deception by desperate persons.
“The opposition Labor Party, in particular, will go down in the history books as the far-right third-place finisher in a presidential election anywhere that has claimed victory,” he said.
