Trilateral Mechanism Statement on violence against protesters in Sudan – Sudan
The tripartite mechanism condemns the continued use of excessive force against protesters in Sudan, which led to the death of two people in Omdurman last Thursday, bringing the total death toll since the military coup on 25 October 2021 to 121 and Hundreds were injured.
The African Union-IGAD-UN envoy extends its heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims.
The Tripartite Mechanism reminds that everyone has the right to freedom of peaceful assembly and expression. It calls on the Sudanese authorities to investigate these incidents and bring those responsible to justice.
The African Union-IGAD-UN envoy continues to work for the restoration of a transitional period that will be sustainable and allow the formation of a credible civil, democratic and accountable government to bring peace and development to the country.
