US prepares to host 1,000 African officials as Leaders Summit details emerge
The Joe Biden administration expects more than 1,000 African government and business leaders to descend on Washington next month for diplomatic talks and commercial deals, according to US officials and leaked planning documents.
Senior White House adviser for the US-Africa Leaders Summit Dana Banks told reporters this week that 45 of the 49 invited heads of state, as well as Moussa Faki, chair of the African Union Commission, have confirmed their attendance.
